Birthday wishes

Mateo's birthday isn't until September, but we have been planning (i.e. really just chatting) about his upcoming party. We threw out lots of suggestions in jest, and he replied: "I want presents, and mommy and daddy". We're touched we made it to the top of the list! :)

Future Zookeeper?

Mateo has a passionate interest in animals right now. He spends endless amounts of time talking about them, deciding who "loves" which animals, reading books with animals, and recalling with fondness any visits to the zoo. Last week he said he wants to be a zookeeper (not a veterinarian, he noted) and take care of the flamingos, gazelles and elephants. It's so fun to see him find his interests and think about what he might be when he grows up!
